Gong Baths: a short introduction

The popularity of sound and gong baths has grown exponentially over the last few years, this is probably because they are a fast, effective and inexpensive way to bring our body and our mind into a very deep state of restorative relaxation.

A gong bath is usually held in a room with a group of people, the practitioner will choose a selection of instruments ranging from gongs, bowls, chimes and bells which they will play in a particular order. Participants are encouraged to sit or lie down comfortably and simply let the sound of the instruments wash over them.

The benefits of a sound or gong bath are very similar to those of meditation, including reducing stress, anxiety, muscle tension and physical pain as well as an increased sense of well being and positive mood. Unlike meditation, which requires a regular daily practice to bring about significant benefits, the positive effects of a gong bath are usually pretty instant and long lasting. If you have struggled with meditation, of if you simply don’t have the time for it, a gong bath may be a great alternative.

I run regular weekly sessions in Bounds Green, North London, and I also offer corporate events for various businesses and organisations.
